Complaints & Concerns

AGSI Certification Programs

The American Grill Service Institute (AGSI) maintains an administrative process for receiving and reviewing complaints related to AGSI certification and credential use. This process supports the integrity of our certification programs and provides a clear pathway for raising concerns.

Note: AGSI’s complaint process is not a legal, regulatory, or safety adjudication process. It is limited to matters within AGSI’s certification authority.

When to Submit a Complaint

You may submit a complaint if it relates to:

  • An AGSI-certified technician
  • An applicant for AGSI certification
  • An AGSI-certified organization
  • Misuse of AGSI certification or logos
  • Alleged professional conduct violations
  • Concerns about AGSI administration

Matters We Cannot Investigate

AGSI does not investigate or resolve:

  • Legal liability, negligence, or fault
  • Code compliance or regulatory violations
  • Fire safety determinations
  • Insurance coverage or underwriting
  • Contractual or pricing disputes
  • Customer service issues unrelated to certification

What Happens Next

Step 1

Receipt & Review

All complaints are logged and reviewed to determine whether they fall within AGSI’s certification authority.

Step 2

Evaluation

If in scope, AGSI may review certification records, request information, or evaluate requirement compliance.

Step 3

Outcome

Possible outcomes range from no action required, advisory notices, corrective action, to suspension/revocation.

Confidentiality & Process Limitations

Complaint records are handled confidentially and access is restricted. AGSI does not disclose investigative details or disciplinary outcomes publicly. Complainants may be notified when a complaint is closed, but specific findings may not be shared.

Important Notice

AGSI certification is an independent assessment of professional competence. The complaint process does not determine legal responsibility, regulatory compliance, or safety outcomes. All technicians and service providers remain responsible for compliance with applicable laws, manufacturer instructions, and local requirements.

Appeals: Certified individuals subject to an adverse decision may appeal under AGSI’s appeals procedures.
